Dalai Lama Visits White House: Today's Cartoon

I wonder which was the more difficult decision for the United States to make; denoucing the Armenian genocide and offending Turkey, or honouring the Dalai Lama and upsetting China... Then again, I guess it doesn't matter, since the *easiest* choice was to go ahead and do both.

The way I see it, if the Bush Administration was already hurting its relationship with China by hosting the Dalai Lama in the first place, then they might as well have gone all the way and allowed President Bush to ride him on the White House lawn, as he originally intended. I mean, if the Queen of England's visit last spring is any indication of what the "God-king" of Tibet can expect from an encounter with the "Man-child" of Washington, then perhaps China was a little too quick to condemn the meeting.
